K&L Aviary Happenings
Happy New Year to ALL!
I've been extremely busy with both NCS and K&L lately. K&L Aviary has had TERRIFIC production rates and lots of fertile eggs. I've been doing a lot of joint breedings here with Amber Penninston, Sherri Lewis, Josh Maple, Sue Smith, and Randy G. to name a few! But, a few of them are my own breedings. Right now, I'm feeding babies from DHB's grandson! These are now DHB great grandchildren and they are really showing promise. I let them clutch once and now they are down again and will be up in a few months.
Milli is back to nest, my HUGE pied hen. She was at "Uncle Phils" but now is home again! She's up with the one and only DHB! I can't wait for babies... Uncle Phil is babysitting some cockatiels for me and I'm so happy he has helped me along the way. A great Greeson bird is over there waiting to breed. He is the FATHER of the National Winner of 2006. Thanks to Phil for helping me and for Julia Allen for selling me such a fine cock! His outcross will do us good! I also have another pure breeding of Greeson that I will be outcrossing. He's from a Hogan/Charmin pairing and is 100% Greeson from Julia. He'll be going up with Champion 70L-528-05. She's a strong bodied, good crested hen. He's got bulk head!
My favorite and best pairing will be whiteface this year. I've got babies from a 16P Grandchampion Wf daughter paired to a normal/wf cock (with huge major pts). This normal cock/wf went 2nd BIS in two different shows last year at just a little over a year of age! He's the full sibling to a wonderful n/wf hen. Speaking of, Amber Penninston loaned me the full sister (and one of the only siblings that is a hen). She's up with a great pearl cock of Kathy Shorts. Babies are in the nest as I type!
With all these babies, the K&L Aviary website will be changing a lot. I'm taking pictures at this moment of some of the birds in the aviary to add to my website.
If you are looking for a special pet, a breeding bird, or even an exhibition cockatiel, let me know.
I have lots of linnies going to nest. Please email me for availability at

Until later,
Leslie
