Busy Busy Busy

WOW! Time flies when you are having fun! We've been to four shows already this year and managed to get our many birds on the top bench (even though we have a crest pulling juvenile or two who has devastated the crests of our main flight!). But, none the less, even leaving some of most coveted tiels at home, we've managed a decent showing. We hope the fall will prove better for K&L as we have some great breedings out of CC that we want to show off. They were born the 1st of January, going through their molts and they are really looking great. CC's Dad, DHB, has also managed to throw down more magnificent gene when bred to another hen this year. We have him set up with a great "Chicken George daughter" (we affectionately call 'Chicken George Eliot' after the famous victorian writer as we were unsure if "georgie" was a girl or a boy when she was growing up. Low and behold this hen, with a big head and a bigger even chest, may be even better for DHB then his previous mates. We are eventually going to establish this line with careful breeding. We see consistancy in all the babies yet they are never quite done, are they?

Last year, K&L did some careful purchases and again, this year, we've bought three great birds. Two from our beloved Kathy Short, who's birds grace this page, and one in the works with Sherri Lewis. Kathy's are for linebreeding, Sherri's for outcross (SIZE!). Phil also was gracious enough to sell us a normal/wf cock and while he was being put 2nd in show (less than a year old) in Virginia, his sister was benching Best in Show at the specialty!

The Raleigh show is coming up this weekend (memorial day) and I'm a delegate once again this year. K&L Aviary has made major purchases in our parrotlets and lineolateds. We will be concentrating on providing our customers with the quality of these pets. We will be working on that website as time allows but... Volunterism is always high on K&L's list and both Karl and I are avid volunteers to non profits. I'm in the midst of getting the NCS Journal back on track and redesigned, Karl is working diligently on a display for IPS. I have also accepted a position on SPBE which was brought forth to me by Dr. Al Decoteau. SPBE (Society of Parrot Breeders and Exhibitors) is a great parrot society.

Hope all is going well in your cages!
