Our beautiful cinnamon cock had his second best weekend this year. After going 2nd at the Double points show under Gary Morgan, Gary then went BIS under Josh Maple at the 2009 NECBE show! We are so proud of him and his achievements. Gary has 2 BIS's now and just is looking for his last judge. At the tender age of 15 months, we sure are proud of him!

Gary Gets His Champion
Our beautiful cinnamon baby who went on the best for the first time at 3 months of age, and on the National Bench at 9 months of age, has gotten his Champion (and near Grandchampion) at a little more than a year of age! Gary went 2nd Best In Show at the NCS Specialty Double Points show! Special thanks to Phil Feret who bred both parents! I can only hope that I can carry your lines as far as you have already carried them! After Gary breeds, he'll be off to the nestbox to make his progeny!

K&L Aviaries starts 2009 off strong.
Having already accumulated some points along the way, K&L Aviary is happy to announce the first champion for 2009. "Gary" is a cinnamon cock who had his first showing last year as just a youngster. He proved his worth by benching at three major show benches against stiff competition. He rounded out 2008 by shining on the top bench of the 2008 Nationals beating out many Grandchampions for his spot. Gary placed again this year in his first show at Pennisula Caged Bird Show which has now made him a champion! We look forward to seeing him in the upcoming shows in 2009! We are very proud of his accomplishments this year at just 12 months of age!

Sharing Quality!
Our line of cockatiels sure makes its rounds! We are starting to see our lines pop up with other band numbers on it but they consistantly look like ours! We congratulate all of those who have purchased K&L Aviary stock that is producing for them. Our own Bud Light went to Lovetiels aviary in Rhode Island and produced a VERY lovely hen
This hen multiple benched very nicely for Ms. LaBanca and we are very happy for her wins.
This hen is from our very own bred Bud Lite. Bud Light, is now at another aviary to prove consistancy in breeding for Crystal Hopkins!
Cockatiel Co-Op Of Tennessee
K&L Aviary has started out the spring season with a blast. Winning Best Rare in show at the Nashville show (under Sabrina Hull) and winning Best Whiteface (Second BIS) and Best Pearl (Onefeather) under Annette Howard. Annette also put Co Best in Show our own Grandchampion, Isabelle and Co-6th was "Awesome"!
Next up is Virginia, my own show in Raleigh, and then New Hampshire!!!

Setting up pairs at K&L.
As we look towards the future, sometimes K&L travels back and does a breeding they should've done a long time ago. DHB (left) is father of Champions and many pointed birds and BB is the aunt of Lola and Grandchampion Manillow! They are being bred together to see what happens. Its a familiar breeding and is very close to what produced our Champion Latifa. We believe it may even be better. BB is a great, wide chested hen and DHB throw absolutely beautiful head packages. Put them together and you are bound to have some beautiful chicks!
On the right, we have Spottie (who just sired a beautiful lutino hen last year by Latifa). He is set up with One Feather (a 91j hen from part of the Royal Line). Bound to be colorful yet beautiful style in this pairing. We have one lutino that we are handfeeding right now. Both birds top ten benching birds in very major shows. Spottie went Second BIS at the Chester County show and the One feather has placed at the Specialty Show in 2006.
We have also purchased several beautiful rare cockatiels (dominant silvers, yellowcheeks, goldcheeks and fallows). All of our rares are EXCEPTIONAL. They have beautiful style and size and will be taking to the rare bench this year.

TWO HUGE SHOWS IN NC!!! 2009
In 2009, I am very excited that I will be involved with two different national shows. The first is in May (Memorial Day weekend) and will be the National Cockatiel Society Specialty Show. This year, RDCBS (Raleigh Durham Caged Bird Society) will be hosting the show and I have volunteered to be the delegate for the RDCBS show for the 8th year in a row. The Specialty Show is the NCS's own national show and has special awards and points awarded to those lucky few who make it on the top bench. The second show is the All American Show sponsored by Sandhills Budgerigar Society. I am a member of that society and will be working on the website during the next couple of weeks. The show will be held in Fayetteville, NC in September of this year and I will be posting more information about both shows as they get closer to fruition.
On to Phoenix, AZ....!

K&L Aviary puts up youngster at the Nationals
Getting on the National Bench is difficult enough but we were very fortunate to have done it this year with a young cockatiel. At only 10 months of age, our cinnamon cock is well on his way to becoming a grandchampion. We are so proud of our breedings for this year. Many have yet to see the show bench as we carefully have waited to show our birds at the peak of their beauty. We thank Josh Maple for seeing the beauty in this young bird. He's got a wonderful head and good length, we know he'll soon be in the nest box making the next best babies of 2010!
