209 Gets his grand

We stopped counting at 140 points. It was too painful. A second place here, a third place there. The groomsman of the group, "209" has always been wanting to make the show his own but just didn't seem to find the condition to do it. But, he always managed a good showing on the bench which is a sign of superior consistancy. I went to the show in Doswell, VA and there was "209". Alyssandra Young described his head as an "Anvil". A long broad head it is. He's precended by his son, Gary who received his Grand last year at just a little over a year. We can't tell you how happy we are that both are contributing so well to aviculture. "209" has already in his 4 years produced 10 babies with 3 hens! His babies explify his head, style and (overall) good looks. We are happy to get to show some of these prospects in the upcoming months.

Congrats goes to Phil Feret who bred "209" and his many siblings who also became Grands.

Leslie Judges Baltimore

My first judging assignment in Baltimore was a huge success! I thank all for bringing all the wonderful birds for me to judge. Since I judge my birds at home all the time, this was just my aviary on a large scale. I was impressed with the quality of novices. It seems like forever since I've been in novice but I remember the days of just trying to bench a bird on novice much less the top bench.

BUD LITE! Your a winner!

A few special birds come into the world and steal the heart of everyone around them. Bud lite is of them. Although her offspring have been helping novices and advanced alike bench on national benches, Bud has always preferred the aviary setting over the show bench. Big sis, Bud, is more of the show bird. Or so we thought!

Bud Light went as a filler bird and we put her in a show cage and saw she was ready for the TN show this November. Little did we know she was destined for Best in Show. Thank you Deb Dollar for seeing the promise in our Bud Lite and thanks to all her "fans" who are elated with the news.

Special thanks to Crystal Hopkins who's been a very special part of Bud Lites life. We thank you for your caring words and your help with her breedings.

Gary gets his Grand

Special thanks to Sabrina Hull, Gary Morgan, Pat Tucker, and Josh Maple who saw the potential in our buddy Gary. He benched at a young 3 months of age for the first time and now, just a little over a year, he's a GRAND with two best in shows!

Special thanks to Phil Feret who bred the parents of this special bird. His personality speaks worlds to his parental breeding. We look forward now to breeding Gary to some really nice "gals"! Rarely, do we show our Grandchampions as their retirement is best spent in the breeding cage breeding next years top bench winners. but you may just see him on some Grandchampion benches in the next couple of years.

Gary gets his second BIS!

Our beautiful cinnamon cock had his second best weekend this year. After going 2nd at the Double points show under Gary Morgan, Gary then went BIS under Josh Maple at the 2009 NECBE show! We are so proud of him and his achievements. Gary has 2 BIS's now and just is looking for his last judge. At the tender age of 15 months, we sure are proud of him!

Gary Gets His Champion

Our beautiful cinnamon baby who went on the best for the first time at 3 months of age, and on the National Bench at 9 months of age, has gotten his Champion (and near Grandchampion) at a little more than a year of age! Gary went 2nd Best In Show at the NCS Specialty Double Points show! Special thanks to Phil Feret who bred both parents! I can only hope that I can carry your lines as far as you have already carried them! After Gary breeds, he'll be off to the nestbox to make his progeny!

Latifa gets her Grand

After only needing ONE point, Latifa is now a Grandchampion. Latifa got her grand under 6 judges and her Best in Show under Conrad Meinert in Marrietta, GA! Latifa is the first Grand for DHB and I'm sure not the last Grandchampion! Her half sister is following in her footsteps also.

K&L Aviaries starts 2009 off strong.

Having already accumulated some points along the way, K&L Aviary is happy to announce the first champion for 2009. "Gary" is a cinnamon cock who had his first showing last year as just a youngster. He proved his worth by benching at three major show benches against stiff competition. He rounded out 2008 by shining on the top bench of the 2008 Nationals beating out many Grandchampions for his spot. Gary placed again this year in his first show at Pennisula Caged Bird Show which has now made him a champion! We look forward to seeing him in the upcoming shows in 2009! We are very proud of his accomplishments this year at just 12 months of age!

Sharing Quality!

Our line of cockatiels sure makes its rounds! We are starting to see our lines pop up with other band numbers on it but they consistantly look like ours! We congratulate all of those who have purchased K&L Aviary stock that is producing for them. Our own Bud Light went to Lovetiels aviary in Rhode Island and produced a VERY lovely hen

This hen multiple benched very nicely for Ms. LaBanca and we are very happy for her wins.

This hen is from our very own bred Bud Lite. Bud Light, is now at another aviary to prove consistancy in breeding for Crystal Hopkins!

Cockatiel Co-Op Of Tennessee

K&L Aviary has started out the spring season with a blast. Winning Best Rare in show at the Nashville show (under Sabrina Hull) and winning Best Whiteface (Second BIS) and Best Pearl (Onefeather) under Annette Howard. Annette also put Co Best in Show our own Grandchampion, Isabelle and Co-6th was "Awesome"!

Next up is Virginia, my own show in Raleigh, and then New Hampshire!!!
